An explosion hit a market in Davao city in Southern Philippines, at least 10 people were reportedly killed and 60 were injured.

An explosion rocked a crowded night market in Davao city's Roxas Avenue.

As many as 10 people were killed and 60 were injured in a blast in Davao City, Philippines, local media reported Friday citing presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella.

According to the CNN Philippines channel citing Abella, the explosion is "unspecified." President Rodrigo Duterte is reportedly in the region.

Police suspected an improvised explosive device, but Police Insp. Catherine dela Rey said in an interview with a local radio station. However, there is no official confirmation yet on what caused the blast.

Davao is a home city of Philippine President Rodrigo Duerte. He was in the city when the blast occurred, but was safe, his son Paolo Duterte, who is vice mayor of the city, told Reuters.
