Daesh Executes 50 New Recruits in Iraq for Refusing to Wear Suicide Belts
BAGHDAD (Sputnik) Iraq's army continues to advance towards the center of Ramadi to free it from the Daesh, also known as ISIL/the Islamic State, army spokesman Yahya Rasool Abdullah told Sputnik on Friday.

On Tuesday, Iraqi troops entered the central district of Ramadi, which has been occupied by Daesh jihadists since May. On Wednesday, the Iraqi army continued liberating Ramadi's neighborhoods and moved closer to the city's government compound.

"The Iraqi flag will be raised in Ramadi center soon," Abdullah said, noting that dozens of Daesh militants have been killed.

Iraqi forces have also managed to destroy a number of the terrorist group's oil trucks in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, he stated.

Abdullah added that the army managed to prevent a series of suicide attacks aimed at Iraqi Armed Forces.

According to the spokesman, several soldiers were injured during the operation.

Daesh, which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries, has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and declared a caliphate on territories under its control. The group is currently considered to be one of the main threats to global security.
