Three russian citizens were detained in Antalya following an explosion in the central square in Istanbul, which killed at least 10 people.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) —Russia's Consulate General in Antalya confirned the detention of three Russian citizens on suspicion of being affiliated with Daesh (the Islamic State).

"We confirm the detention of three Russian citizens," Consul-General Alexander Tolstopyatenko said, addint that "the reason for their detention is being determined."

Earlier, the Dogan news agency reported that three Russians were detained in Turkey’s Antalya on Wednesday during an operation against the Daesh extremist group.

The explosion in the central square in Istanbul’s historical center on Tuesday morning claimed the lives of at least 10 foreign tourists and injured 15 people. The attack was perpetrated by a Syrian suicide bomber, according to the Turkish leader.
