Syria: In the Abyss of War Again

The new ceasefire agreement on Syria didn’t even survive a week after repeated violations by terrorists and various groupings of the ‘armed opposition’, both of which used the short break in hostilities to reinforce their ranks and launch a fresh offensive against the Syrian Arab Army.

The Syrian and Russian militaries feel misled by ‘moderate opposition’ which had previously pledged to halt their aggression, and the whole world was shocked when the US and its allies ‘accidentally’ – as they explained it – bombed Syrian soldiers fighting back Daesh in the northeastern desert town of Deir ez-Zor.

In the meantime Turkey plans to move on al-Bab while the Kurds are conducting a census in advance of the illegal ‘elections’ that they plan to hold over their conquered territories.

So, all in all, the resumption of fighting in Syria comes at a particularly sensitive time and it’s anyone’s guess where it’s all headed now.
