Russia's United Aircraft Corporation to Double SSJ100 Production by 2017
ROSTOV-ON-DON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Monday, the first serial Be-200ChS plane was rolled out from the production line of the Beriev Aircraft Company, a part of the UAC, in the southern Russian city of Taganrog. Previously, the plane was produced by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in Siberia.

"The UAC is prepared to supply up to 26 aircraft of this type to Russian and foreign clients by 2025," the UAC said in a press statement.

The Beriev Aircraft Company is set to supply six planes to the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) and five planes to the Russian Defense Ministry by 2018, the company's General Director Jury Grudinin told reporters.

From abroad, interest in the aircraft has been expressed by Indonesia. Last month, a source in the Russian defense industry said that Indonesia planned to buy four Be-200 planes from Russia, adding that a contract could be sealed shortly. The deal has not yet been closed.

The Beriev Be-200 and its variants are designed mainly for firefighting, search and rescue and maritime patrol missions, as well as transporting cargo and passengers. It can take in up to 12.5 metric tons of water in a few seconds while traveling over a water surface before dumping the water onto a fire. The Be-200ChS was designed for Russia's EMERCOM and first flew in 2003.
